Congratulations to Dr. Sherrill on his appointment as the interim executive director of the Georgia Tech Institute for Data Engineering and Science (IDEas)! Through this role, he will support the interdisciplinary research across campus involving data science and high performance computing. SC24 in Atlanta
The 2024 Supercomputing conference was in Atlanta this year. Dr. Sherrill, Lori, and Izzy were in attendance. Dr. Sherrill helped represent Georgia Tech at the GT booth, where a robotic marimba player was the star of the show!
Sherrill honored at SERMACS
In October, current and former group members and collaborators came together to honor Dr. Sherrill's Herty Medal at the Southeastern Regional Meeting of the ACS (SERMACS). Current group members Lori, Austin, and Caroline presented excellent talks, and Izzy and Luke presented exciting posters. Many group alumni returned to update everyone on their research progress. Thanks to group alumna Ashley Ringer-McDonald for organizing the symposium and bringing cookies in the shape of Dr. Sherrill's face.
Congratulations, Dr. Nelson!
Congratulations to the Sherrill group's newest Ph.D., Philip Nelson! During his time with the group, Philip created a Python module for VPT2 calculations, studied three-body effects in crystals, and perfected his afternoon pick-me-up with the group's espresso machine. Best of luck in your future endeavors!
